Welcome to The Center for Metabolic and Obesity Surgery, the private metabolic surgery practice of Dr. Wiljon Beltre, where it is our goal to help you empower yourself to lose weight and improve your health safely and successfully! Located in beautiful Altamonte Springs, Florida, we are pleased to offer currently all four major forms of advanced laparoscopic metabolic and bariatric surgery—gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, biliopancreatic diversion (with or without duodenal switch), and gastric band, as well as revision surgery for individuals who have already had previous bariatric surgery. We specialize in these cutting-edge surgical techniques because for many individuals who are severely obese, they offer one of the most effective ways to achieve long-term weight loss.

The benefits of metabolic surgery go way beyond just weight loss, however. Both scientific studies* and the personal experience of recent patients are beginning to confirm what surgeons have suspected for quite a while: that metabolic surgeries such as gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy stimulate metabolic and hormonal changes within the body that not only facilitate aggressive weight loss, but also minimize and potentially even resolve many obesity-related health problems such as sleep apnea, cardiac disease, fatty liver, polycystic ovarian disease leading to infertility, and arthritic joint pains. Most spectacularly, these metabolic procedures may stop type 2 diabetes, with some patients even finding that they no longer require their diabetes medication within hours of their surgery!***

We understand that regaining control of your weight and your health is never easy, but we also believe that with proper medical intervention and dedicated, compassionate support, it is possible to finally achieve your weight loss goals. We offer a multifaceted approach to weight loss, with a comprehensive combination of patient education, the most advanced, up-to-date surgical techniques, a dedicated team of experienced, caring weight loss professionals, and an ongoing support network crucial to your long-term success. Meet Doctor Wiljon Beltre

Obesity Surgery has Come a Long Way! Obesity surgery in Orlando Florida has gone through a lot of exciting changes in the last 10 years. These procedures are now all done using minimally invasive or laparoscopic techniques. This means that rather than using one large incision, we use modern technology to do the surgery through small (keyhole) incisions. This allows for less pain and quicker recovery. The average weight loss patient can now be discharged home in 24 to 48 hours following the surgery.

We're now learning a lot more about these weight loss procedures and how they work. Obesity surgery, in particular the gastric sleeve and the Roux-Y gastric bypass, are now referred to as metabolic procedures. What is a metabolic procedure? These procedures cause profound changes in your metabolism causing your body to release powerful hormones. These hormones are normally found in your intestines and once released cause a number of metabolic changes in your body.
